Goals101 is a new segment on the blog thought to inspire you to live the best experiences and learn about all the different opportunities you can seize in Montreal and elsewhere. The first step to your upgraded life is inevitably finding and following your passion.
Step 1: Listen to your inner self.
“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” Mark Twain
How do I determine what my true passion is you may ask. First, you may have an idea since you know what you like and what you don’t by now. Try exploring those things you like or that you’d be curious to learn more about. Sign up for that motorcycling class, attend that fashion show, book a meeting with that school that offers that program you always wanted to start, try that speed dating activity, sign up for that internship at Google, etc. While doing those things you like, try to understand what it is that you really like about them. Is it meeting new people, learning more about that topic/industry, making something with your own hands, etc.
Step 2: Explore outside your comfort zone.

This requires you to channel your inner curious self and increase your willingness to try new activities. Personally, I am always open to try about almost anything. Worst case scenario, I won’t like it and at least I will know I don’t like it instead of always doing the same things and wondering what would happen if I’d try something else. If I didn’t think that way, I would have never lived many amazing experiences like booking a last minute flight to attend a conference in LA, cover fashion shows, network and meet great people, interview pretty cool montrealers, etc. The most magical thing about exploring outside your comfort zone is the adventures you live, the things you learn, the people you meet and that enriches your soul like no other thing.
Step3: Do what you love.

This will basically transform you into an expert with regards to your passion. Subscribe to all the news sources, leaders that concentrate on that industry and attend all the events you can attend to meet and learn from people from that industry. Try to go step by step, you can start blogging for an established blog, volunteer to build your experience and get your name out there. The beauty of it is, it won’t feel like work because you love it. When I love something I can work on it until 5am and still feel the energy and excitement boiling inside me.
