TRESemmé has introduced a new line of products that reverse the order of how you wash your hair. It’s tradition to shampoo and then, condition your hair. However, this traditional process makes the hair appear flat and less voluminous. Why? Because conditioner leaves behind a residue causing it to weigh the hair down, giving it less bounce.

By reversing the wash, the shampoo washes away the residue conditioner leaves behind, giving you the volume you desire.
Lucky for you, and thanks to ddmg, I got to test out TRESemmé’s new volume collection. Personally, I was a little hesitant in trying this new process because I was comfortable with the original way. However, I too have experienced residue left in my hair from the conditioner. Which was always frustrating because I ended up washing my hair again just to get leftovers out. And of course, that’s not good for your hair because it dries it out. So after my realization, it was time to try the reverse wash.
Step 1: Apply the Pre-Wash Conditioner.
As hairstylists have told me in the past, I should only apply conditioner to the ends of my hair and not all over, so that it doesn’t weigh down your hair. However, with this new process I applied it all over because hey, I was washing it out anyways.
Once I applied the conditioner, I let it sit for 2-3 minutes – the usual, and did my regular shower routine as I waited.
Step 2: Apply the Volume Shampoo
After I let the conditioner sit for a few minutes, I went ahead and rinsed the product out, and applied the shampoo to my hair. This step washes away the weight leaving your hair soft and ready to style for volume.
Step 3: Style
Normally, I apply Moroccan Oil to my hair for softness and shine, but instead, I used TRESemmé’s Hair Maximizer as a substitute and I added a small amount of my Moroccan Oil to my hair for extra shine. Next, I blow-dried my hair and proceeded to style it with a curling iron.
Overall, the reverse wash left my hair soft and with more volume than usual. And I wasn’t left with residue in my hair, so for me, it was a win-win. In my opinion, this new order is the new norm. Instead of calling it the ‘reverse wash’ it should be labeled as the correct way to wash your hair.
