I was impressed and happy to see so many men walking around and discovering what the salon had planned for them. As a huge fan of the National Women’s Show myself, I love getting spoiled with gifts and getting to know and learn about many new products and services that were thought just for us women and I was excited to see the equivalent for men. So, as the curious adventurous person that I am, I went there and I found out men liked the surprises that were awaiting for them. They liked being spoiled, discovering what exists out there for them and gathering around manly activities.
Weekend Au Masculin, which took place from November 27th to 29th at place Bonaventure, was the first salon absolutely dedicated to men. For the first time in Montreal men could go to a salon created and thought for their well being only, unlike other salons they usually attend such as the annual auto show or other tech gadgets oriented shows. They now have an annual rendez-vous where they can find different workshops, attend conferences about interesting topics like business, entrepreneurs’ experiences and shared success stories, sports, health and grooming products or trends, a salon full of activities like gaming, boxing and many others. Clothilde N’Dri and Carly Fils-Aime took the initiative of creating this. I really enjoyed the experience. Think about that men, salons and shows are a good place to find a potential girlfriend when you’re single.
There were many conferences. I attended the one about e-commerce and small businesses presented by Francois Charron: “Easily sell online with a small budget” explaining how e-commerce has evolved and what customers are really looking for online. I also discovered the entrepreneurial journey of Kevin Creuer, one of the founders of Bec Cola, a tasty organic soda mixed with maple sirop which quickly became very popular in Quebec and is now selling internationally. We also heard the stories and advices of Olivier Primeau from Beach Club, Ali Gerba former Impact player and Charles Harvey pilot for Nascar, just to name a few.
I also had the chance to visit different stands for health and grooming products from companies like Arbonne, Groom, Mtl shaving supplies, etc. a tattoo stand, clothing, paintball, motorcycles and of course cars, yes it wouldn’t have been a men’s salon without some cars at stands offering a chance to drive race cars like Ferrari and Lamborghini. One of my favorite stands was Lcodeseduction, a seduction coach which Lily previously interviewed here. It’s all about the seduction code, its advices and workshops for men regarding the topic, how to enhance your attractiveness in order to seduce the woman of your dreams, I tried to approach the coach afterwards, but the he was circled by a big group of guys asking questions and left them have their men bonding moment.
The salon can help women find fun and useful gifts or good ideas for the men in their lives, and men can enjoy something different and let the part of them that likes being pampered learn and experiment freely. It’s a good moment to spend with friends, family or your other half. Therefore, I want to congratulate Weekend Au Masculin‘s organizers, guests and exhibitors for coming with the idea, for making men the center of attention for a weekend for the first time in Montreal and for the great work they have accomplished.
I am looking forward to the next edition.
