For those of you who don’t know the Black Expo Design, no worries, the 5th edition is to come next year in April 2016.
It has been an honour for me to be invited to the 2015 edition, the 4th one of this international event which has the mission to promote designers from Quebec and other parts of the world to reveal their talents to the Quebec public.
HAUNITI was the thematic of this 4th edition which has been very successful during the whole three days of the event. In an understated elegant atmosphere completed with warm lighting, models were proud to present designers’ collections, walking on a good sound of DJ Gardy GIRAULT and under their guru’s supervision and advices, Gerry Pitt, Models Coach and Choreograph for the 3rd consecutive year.
HAUNITI or Haiti United, is a carefully chosen name by Yves de Lima, Founder and Artistic Director of Black Expo Design and director of AMA Afro Modern Art, to give to the Haitian community through Quebec and through the world a message of union and strength. He wants to support young designers and artists from Haiti and help them achieve success. And in through his message of union, Yves de Lima regroups designers from other different parts of the world such as afro-Caraibean and African designers who were there to present their collections. Mix culture (multiculturalism)is the essence of the ethno-contemporary design says Yves de Lima. The aim of his event is to bring those artists to the public, to show the passion behind their talents, and for the 4th time the event has proven to be a success.
The designers where invited to present their collection at the sumptuous Loft Hotel, located downtown Montreal. From Friday April 24th to Sunday April 26th, you could have seen different designers: NSB Style (Montreal), Béké Bobo and Alexandre dit Sandy (Montreal), Malou (Haiti), Syryzya (Martinique), Tim Creations (Ivory Coast), Vala Bella (Montreal), Ixchel Valazquez (Mexico), Habesha (chine), Ava Paris (Paris), Mirmonde (Montreal), Soro’Bis (Atlanta), Deux par Deux (Montreal), Eliane Cauvin (Montreal).
